I REPRESENT NO AGRICULTURAL COALITIONS; I AM NOT HEARD.
I REPRESENT NO CORPORATIONS; I AM NOT HEARD.
I REPRESENT NO POLITICAL AGENDA; I AM NOT HEARD.

I'M A SALT LAKE CITY RESIDENT; I AM MISREPRESENTED.
I'M A UTAH NATIVE; I AM MISREPRESENTED.
I'M A CO-OWNER OF OUR WILDERNESS LANDS; I AM MISREPRESENTED.
I'M A WILDERNESS USER; I AM MISREPRESENTED.
I'M A SUPPORTER OF 5.7 MILLION ACRES OF WILDERNESS; I AM UNREPRESENTED.

GREAT BASIN. Utah's West Desert is a diverse and varied landscape encompassing towering, isolated mountains and the biologically diverse Mohave Desert. H.R.1745/S.884 would leave open to development nearly a half million acres--fully two-thirds of the remaining roadless Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands throughout Utah's portion of the Great Basin. Thirteen roadless areas and nine mountain ranges would be omitted in their entirety from wilderness protection. These lands face extensive mineral exploration and development, new road construction, expanded military overflights, installation of military and commercial communications facilities, and unrestricted off-road vehicle use. Among the many natural areas to be sacrificed would be 79,000-acre King Top, the second largest roadless area in Utah's Great basin, where Crown Resources has proposed the construction of a cyanide, heap-leach gold mining operation adjacent to and within the proposed wilderness.
