It's a great thing that you people are doing by getting the word out and help try to save our great resources. I live in SE Ohio where the Wayne National Forest is located. In recent times there has been a lot of oposition to the logging of the forest and of the management plans. Why do they want to cut down a Forest when It belongs to the people and Not INDUSTRY, We should not let them destroy our resources. Thank you for your consern.

Having driven ev's for three decades, and acquired four patents in alternative technologies, my final conclusion is that if we want to reduce pollution by half it is only necessary to reduce population by half. From Quinhagak, Alaska, and eskimo village on the Bering Sea to Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, to Malabon, a suburb of Manila, to Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine, I have tried to deal with the problems of solid waste at remote sites. With NRC scheduling shutdown of the last of 110 nuclear power station by 2033, and with DOE indicating that "proven petroleum reserves" in the US will be exhausted in another nine years, the futre for our urban populations looks grim. Cities are immense collections of small, medium and large machines which will certainly halt city living when their fuels are exhausted. A 72 hour midwinter shutdown in Manhattan is likely to kill many urban buildings through failure of their sprinklet systems. 2% of American Ruralists feed the 75% Urbanites, plus the 23% Sub-Urbanites. Likely point of collapse? Pick any number you want(+- February 9, 2009) [which is nothing more than a date casually pulled out of thin air...one number is good as any other].

Looking forward to reading more! We live in a small beach community of about 380 people. The beach was discovered polluted by an oil pipe leak 8 years ago by Unocal Corp, which has of yet not done anything about it! However, just recently, the county required Unocal to pay for a $3 million EIR--although Unocal still tried to deny responsibility for social consequences-- there is a moratorium on loans to homeowners in the area because of the pollution. Anyway, my husband and I will read with interest your site, with the hope we can be better advocates to clean our environment. Thank you.

I just "subscribed" to BWZ. The subscription form had a box with a check in it next to: "Yes, I would also like to be informed about newsworthy issues of importance to BWZ readers like me." I unchecked the box, but am curious to know what this is all about. If I left the box checked, would my name and e-mail address be sold/given to junk e-mailers? Please respond. Thanks, Ben

Editor: That checkbox adds your name to our private email announcements list, which we very occasionally post important news about Better World. We have no plans to sell the list, but if we decide to do so, you will be asked for your permission first.

Hello! I'm a college student creating a poster series on environmental organizations. Your organization will be one in a four part series. The others are Greenpeace, Earth Spirit, and EarthSharing. They're coming along pretty well. If you're interested in seeing them let me know. I'm afraid I don't know as much as I should about each group; however, I am very interested in the changes that organizations such as yours are trying to make in our world and would like to learn more. Sincerely, Tina Faxon

great to finally read material from people with the same interests I do. My boyfriend always says that it isn't my job to save the world, but if I don't, then who will? I think it's very important everyone is involved and that we don't just leave it to others to make a difference. If we don't do something to save the planet we'll die. Hi, I'm a 'Harry Browne' libertarian who believes that the way to a 'Better World' is to get the government off our backs. A truly wealthy nation will be a clean, environmentally friendly nation. The first step toward a truly better world would be to eliminate the IRS, the FDA, the DEA, the INS, the CIA, the EPA, just to name a few. I would truly appreciate a response via e-mail, and would like to wish you the best. Thank you most sincerely. John Gunderson

What a great publication. I found you while helping with research for my daughter's science fair project. She is doing a project on natural household cleaners vs commercial products. I want her to see that there are items around the house that will produce the desired results and are not only cost effective, but environmentally friendly. The products article was just what we needed. And in the process, I found many other interesting articles. I have added BWZ to my 'Favorite places'.

However, when we attempted to mail to the address he posted in the article to stop junk mail, we received the mail back saying that it was undeliverable. Do you have any idea if the addressed has changed or if it was listed incorrectly? Please e-mail me with a response. Very much appreciated, Angel Payne

I really find your site relevant and informative except that I think who ever designed it got carried away with backgounds. I can harly read it in my monitor. Please be informed that we are still plentyful who does not own the latest PCs and are still on 486es. Please redesign your page!!

Editor's Note:

As our backgrounds are simply a thin stripe on the left side, with the text appearing over a plain white background, we believe something else is amiss here. We've been informed of a bug in some versions of Netscape that will make the text appear "broken in half", with the top half of the font misaligned with the bottom.

If this is the case, simply refresh the screen or reload the page, and the fonts will be rendered correctly.
